Easter

Today is Easter and we celebrated by having Eggs Benedict for breakfast.....sooooo good. Of course, Michael opened his basket before breakfast that was filled with candies and money. We decided not to spend all day in the kitchen cooking this year so we ordered our ham and all of our sides from Honeybaked Ham Company. We were able to spend the day together relaxing since we did not have to cook and it was a nice change. Next year we will hopefully have family up for Easter and prepare a large meal. But for this year, it was just what we needed.

Michael's Birthday 2009

Today is Michael's 14th birthday. He is growing up way too fast. I am sure that is what all moms say each year as their children have their birthdays.

We had breakfast in the morning and I baked him brownies. He does not like birthday cake and chose to have a brownie cake this year. We then headed over to the Verizon store so that he could pick out his new phone. He picked a touch screen phone that opens up to a full keyboard. It has lots of applications like IM, email, music, videos, etc. He was very happy with his birthday present.

After the phone he wanted a Qdoba burrito so we stopped for lunch there and then headed to the movies where we saw Watchmen.

We had dinner that night at Kobe Steakhouse at Westport Plaza. The chef performed many tricks as he prepared the meal on the table before us.

It was a great day and it was wonderful to spend the day with my son and help him celebrate his birthday. It seems as he gets older that we have fewer and fewer outings together so I was very thankful for this day together.

Happy Birthday Michael!

Chocolate Wine Trail

Today we went on the Chocolate Wine Trail in Hermann, MO. We received souvenir wine glasses and a map on our first stop and then headed off on the trail. At each winery we were treated with a glass of wine and a dessert. Each winery also had a wine tasting.

Here is the wonderful selection we enjoyed today.

Adam Puchta Winery:
The Work of the Devil Chocolate Sundae paired with Signature Port or Jazzberry.

Bias Winery:
Double Chocolate Valentine Brownie paired with Rosè.

Hermannhof Winery:
Chocolate Hazelnut Terrine paired with Norton.

OakGlenn Winery:
Chocolate Pound Cake with Cherry Cream paired with River View Red.

Röbller Winery:
Double Chocolate Cheesecake paired with Villa Rouge.

Stone Hill Winery:
Cheesecake-filled Dark Chocolate Crown with Mixed Berry Drizzle paired with Port.

Yum! It was all delicious.

First stop Röbller Winery.

Next onto Bias Vineyard.

Then we headed to OakGlenn.

Hermannhof Winery was our next stop.

Stone Hill Winery was our final stop. We planned it this way so we could eat dinner at the Vintage Restaurant located at the winery. The German dishes are scrumptious here.

My Birthday

Today is my birthday. A cake made out of flowers was delivered to me just moments ago. It is so adorable that I have to share the picture with everyone. Tonight Gregory and my son, Michael, will be taking me out for some great food and dessert.

Possibly A New Job

Well it is time...time to go back to work. I have interviewed for a position at a local school. I have to say that I have enjoyed not working and love being able to pick up my son from school and be home in the afternoon to make after school snacks. Cleaning and maintaining my home, baking, cooking, and running errands are all part of a job that I actually enjoy. This will be a change for me.

Although I have previously worked at schools (some time ago), my son and I always had the same schedule so I was able to get off work and still be there to pick him up. This new job will not allow me to do that. I have mixed feelings. I know that going back to work is necessary at this time, and I do enjoy teaching very much....but at the same time my ideal job is a stay at home mom. I realize that he is growing up and am often told that he does not need me to be there in the afternoon, but I disagree with that and as a mom love being there for him.

On one hand I am hoping that they call soon and tell me that I have the job because there are no other teaching positions open at this time.....but on the other hand a little piece of me hopes that I do not get the job because I enjoy what I do. I know that probably sounds horrible. Keep me in your prayers as I need to find some inner peace regarding this situation.

Update: I got the job and love it. The school I work for is wonderful and I couldn't have asked for a better group of students. I still miss being home for my son when he gets home from school but we are both adjusting.

A Snowy Day

It snowed all through the night and we awoke to a winter wonderland this morning. Although we are unable to get out of our driveway to go anywhere at the moment...the snowy landscape is beautiful to look at.

A Birthday Celebration

Greg's parents, Bill and Sandi, have come to visit with us this week and today is Sandi's birthday. We celebrated by going to the Missouri History Museum and then preparing a delicious dinner of Saratoga Ribeyes.

Happy Birthday Sandi.
